Timeline
The middle school application will open during the week of January 10, 2022.
The deadline for families to submit their middle school applications will be the week of February 28, 2022.
By now, you should have received a MySchools account letter via DOE mail. This letter provides instructions and unique account creation codes to set up your child’s MySchools account.
Middle school offers will be available to families and school staff in the spring.
Admissions Methods
The pause on academic screens will continue for students entering middle school in Fall 2022.
All programs that previously admitted students based on their academic records or school-based assessment will use an “open” admission method.
The “open” admissions method uses random selection to match applicants with available seats.
Programs that serve a range of language learners (e.g., dual language programs) may continue to rank applicants based on language learning data. No academic information may be used.
Arts-based middle school audition programs will be permitted to audition applicants; academic information will not be used.
Dual Language programs that previously screened will rank applicants based on ELL data. Academic information will not be used.
REMINDER – if you want to remain at P.S./I.S. 78Q for middle school, you still need to create an account. You will only need to list P.S./I.S. 78Q on the application. If your child is currently enrolled at P.S./I.S. 78Q for elementary school, they are guaranteed a seat at P.S./I.S. 78Q for Middle School.
